Blogscene in Hungary

What is the real blogscene in Hungary like? Obviously we will be able to give
a detailed answer to this question only after months of blogscouting.
Accordingto Technorati’s estimate, about 120 thousand blogs are born daily
and this means that the characteristics of blogwriting change every hour.

It’s certain that blogging in Hungary is quite popular and it’s popularity is increasing quickly.
One of the first blogs  - www.plastik.hu – was created under the nickname
Angelday by József Sasvári, former designer ofthe Hungarian news portal, Index.
Since 2001 the author has written posts on this site about his everyday activities,
experiences and opinion of the world.

There were a few collective blogs that existed even before Plastic,
for example www.technocol.hu or www.ejfelkapitány.hu (meaning
Midnight’s Captain),
that has given the readers smart advice on how to live life since 1998.

Over the ten years since then, over 15 000 Hungarian blogs were born.
There are blog browsers to help to orientate among blogs. (www.blog.lap.hu, www.blogring.hu )

The majority of Hungarian blogs are written by young intellectuals from Budapest, the capital.
The most popular ones are the self-blogs, telling about personal experiences,
comments and recommendations of different links.
There is an increasing number of teenager web diaries where
the most popular subjects are every day life , school, love life or pubbing.
Inner circles of real or virtual communities were born among the authors of these blogs,
who read, comment and recommend each other.

Another important topic in Hungary is public life.
If you want to know more about the Hungarian bloglife, you have to be familiar
with the Hungarian public life as well.
There is a blog for foreigners which reports on Hungarian current affairs and events.

Political blogs are also popular, where our politicians - just like celebrities –
talk about their every day life and work, popularizing themselves
in a simplified but many times entertaining style ….
There are many newsreader blogs where people comment on news of the world
and the country. Political emotions break loose on both wings.

There has been an increasing number of blogs of trans-border Hungarians.
On the webpage www.iwiw.hu  (which is a Hungarian community sight)
there is a site, where every day a blog of different Hungarians from all around the world can be read.
Traveling is in fact a very popular topic, many students studying abroad
keep contact with the ones at home via blogs.
Illness, gastronomy, music and culture, religion etc. are popular subjects for blogs.
Intensive and sometimes very emotional commenting is typical.
