APRIL 2012
Dear all
The ladies of the Farndale Avenue Townswomens' Guild have left the theatre, standing and more or less intact. It was a busy week, with full rehearsal on Sunday, charity audience on Monday and the usual Tuesday to Saturday run. Seven nights of frantic running around and fast costume changes. Audience feedback is very good and the atmosphere on Thursday was electric. The bar has set a new record and book sales contributed towards the toilets. Thank you and congratulations to all concerned.
A special mention is due to Graham Follett. He designs and produces all our posters and programmes. Despite printer problems, the programmes arrived on time. Thanks Graham.
Rehearsals start on Tuesday for 'Bedroom Farce'. This is a change to the advertised play, but still qualifies, as an Ayckbourn from the right Playhouse decade.
Saturday 21 April is the Jumble Sale, at St Michael's Church Rooms, NN1 4HL, from 10.00am. Donations of goods are invited and can be dropped off any rehearsal night. Likewise, we need volunteers to set up on Friday night and run stalls on Saturday.
Wednesday 25 April is the audition for 'Chameleon'. This is a new play, written and directed by our own Barry Hillman, to round off the '50 Years At Clare Street' season. Two male and two female roles are on offer.
By the end of the month, we should have the toilet floor covered.
Friday 4 May is the Inter-Drama Group Quiz, in the theatre. The team of five is not finalised yet, so join up for a fun evening.
We have some potential new mambers in the pipeline, and the promise of an original script from the second play staged at Clare Street in 1962.
Happy Easter
Andy.
SITUATIONS VACANT
The 2012-13 season is almost in place, with one gap. We need a director for a play in the May 2013 slot. Contact Ben or myself for more details.
Mike Bond is considering moving back to being Bar Manager, a post currently vacant. This will mean we need a new treasurer, to stand for election at the AGM. If you are good with figures and would like to be more involved in running the theatre, please get in touch.
