THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE

In September 2008 the Early Years Foundation Stage was introduced.  All nurseries, pre-schools and childminders are required to follow this framework for learning and development.

 

 

The EYFS framework promotes the different agencies involved in each child, working in partnership together.  In line with this LSAChildminding ensure that parents/guardians are fully informed of their child's day and any significant events or milestones that have occured.

 

The EYFS framework also requires LSAChildminding to meet welfare requirements and we are inspected by Ofsted to ensure we are offering a quality service.

 

The framework identifies play as vital for children, as it is through play that children learn, grow and have fun.  EYFS ensures that each individual child learns through high quality play that is tailored to them and so ensures they develop at their own pace.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a comprehensive framework which sets the standards for learning, development and care of children from birth to 5. It builds on and will replace the existing statutory Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage, the non-statutory Birth to Three Matters framework, and the regulatory frameworks in the National Standards for Under 8s Day Care and Childminding.


To comply withe EYFS framework, LSAChildminding will monitor the learning and development of each child. 

Activites are pre-planned each week to build on the childs current stage of development. 

A folder is used to record each child's learning and development and we have termly reviews for parents/guardians to look at this and also photos and ask any questions they may have.  This folder is always available for parents to view in between these reviews and we are always approachable if parents/guardians want to speak with us. 

This folder includes:

- Information on observations
- Photo & Observations Pages
- Learning and Development Observations
- A collection of your childs own work throughout the period

These folders will be yours to take away when you leave the setting, a comprehensive folder for you to take with your child when they start school.
