update 1st september 2007 u9's
The semi final jinx has returned. fabulous effort by the lads at the Russell Foster tournament at Northern area. In all, the lads played over two and a half hours football on a warm sunny day and came within a whisker of making the final.
The group stage started with a 5-0 thumping of Chester Tigers. Jack scoring four-he was on fire again. then a 3-0 win over Boldon Colts and a 4-4 draw against Hilda Park-what a match that was-the lads kept plugging away and banging them in. The quarter finals saw us paired against Lambton tornados and we saw them off 3-0.Several players got on the score sheet during the day with goals coming from Liam Hogg, Mark Wolfe and two superb long range strikes from Niall McGoldrick and Jack kept banging them in. Nicholas Killeen nearly pinched one but the post denied him. the semi saw us up against Whiteleas-a tough game which saw us fight back from two nil down to level the scores and on into extra time. The lads were eventually pipped by a great strike-the dreaded golden goal. The whole team grafted all day with some great defending from the lads. Matty Dawson wasn't required most of the time but when he was needed he was superb-particularly in the last game-cracking goalie.
A superb effort-well done Seaburn
update 21st july 2007 u9,s
at last we have overcome our semi final jinx in the small sided tournaments. the boys were different class today in the safc 24/7 tournament at Farringdon school. two wins and a draw in the group stage set us up with a tough tie against Fulwell in the semi final. after a hard fought match we ran out victors in a 2-0 win. then to the final against redby whites-the team who we earlier drew against in the group stage. Jack Mcaneny proved his goalscoring prowess scoring all five goals in a 5-0 win-our first pre-season tournament victory. everyone in the team contributed to a great day out and the trophies the boys all collected were all thoroughly deserved. sadly Ben Mitchell was missing today-on the drink in Wakefield-but Stu Hogan stood in as captain and worked his socks off-well done Stu. i would also like to mention Callum Reveley-our latest addition who was rock solid in defence. Callum slotted into the team like a seasoned pro-well done on your debut buddy. Oh yes and Jack Mcaneny-just the odd TWELVE goals-awesome.
Finally i would just like to congratulate all the boys once again. this just shows what their hard work and determination can produce. WELL DONE Seaburn Juniors. lets keep filling those trophy cabinets.
update 29th june 2007 u'9s
well done to all the lads after sterling work and endeavour in the Whitburn & Cleadon tournament 23rd june 2007. after a slow start the lads kicked into gear comfortably qualifying from the group stage then won a hard fought match against safc 24/7 1-0. Silksworth eventually ended our run with a deserved 3-0 victory but the lads gave one last big effort to beat Whitburn & Cleadon 1-0 and finish in a respectable third place. each and every one deserved their medal. well done lads you have done me proud. three newly signed players scored their first competitive goals for the team, Liam Hogg, Nicholas Killeen and Niall McGoldrick-well done. the future is bright. i look forward to the Plains farm tournament sunday 1st july 2007 and more silverware.

In atrocious conditions the under 11,s had a home game against Tyneside juniors. In weather that can only be described as artic, the lads, as you could see by their actions where really struggling with the cold and icy winds. However, with adjustments having to be made due to injuries to Liam Watt sickness to Chris Butler and Chris Duncan unavailable the team performed heroically and came away with a well earned 1-0 win through a goal from Liam Smith.
Well done lads for the win and for playing in those conditions.

ROB'S NOTES
Two games for the under 8,s in a gale force wind. The first against joint leaders Chester Athletic.A very hard but satisfying game which resulted in a point each at 0-0.The second game was again a very competitive game with a 2-0 win for the team ,Goals from Ethan and Jordan.

Steve's Notes:
Two wins but that doesn't tell the story. We never get penalties, but we got two today and I'm baffled as to why.The first game in which we won 4-1, we were not at our sharpest. Our friends at Elemore were worthy in defeat. Two goals from Jack, one a pena, a topper from Stuey and a blinding header from Chris sealed the win. A pena and a header? It can't have been us! We hit the bar twice and the post once, yet the performance still looked a bit disjointed. Second game up was against Fulwell, who we all get on with and Andy had their lads up for this one. The Fulwell lads toiled away and never gave up. We were delighted to come away with a 3-2 victory, but it was a great battle on a hard surface in very blustery conditions. This was our hardest game so far in this cup competition. Jack got another brace with a penalty and well taken goal, and Chris chipped in with another.

Well where do we start.A home game against a team near the bottom of the league,Deerness Valley. The first half as we said to the lads at half time was disgraceful. We panicked, argued with each other, forgot our positions and kicked the ball in the air into the wind, only for it to blow back.
Going in 3-0 down was going to be hard to come back from.
With the wind in our favour we had to make our chances copunt and put some pressure on the opposition.Which we started to do but still kept the ball in the air and not playing on the ground the passing and moving game they are good at.However the good thing to come out of this game was the will to win and not give in.2 goals from Jake,1 from Adam and 1 from Reece meant we won 4-3 and did make use if the wind.Well done lads

STEVE'S NOTES
Today the fixtures brought us up against newcomers Easington Condors who comfortably won the first division recently, and we absolutely thumped them 6-0. You cannot argue against a score like that and the margin could have been wider. Chris bagged a hat-trick in his 15 minutes, Jack got a couple and Mark weighed in with a goal that he will remember for a long time. I liked the celebrations too and it was pleasing to see the lads enjoying it. for their biggest win of the season and enjoying playing football which is what its all about.
Next up we had East Durham. Its always a physical encounter against them, but the lads once again showed what character they have and basically out-battled and out performed them. A 1-0 win was fully deserved following a great shot from Jack which thundered in off the post.

ROBS NOTES
An away game for the Under 11's took us to sunny Seaham.
We decided to give the lads who had been more than patient (on the subs bench ) a start against a team we should quite comfortably defeat.
It started well on a hard boggy pitch, going one up with a fine strike from James Roper. Then just as we had been discussing the need for team work and defensive play we again shoot ourselves in the foot with two sloppy goals from poor defending. We should have been well in front, but yet again the normally prolific threat from striker Jake Parker deserted us yet again.Half time 2- 1 down.
Changes were made in the second half which resulted in more possession and a hat full of goals ending in a 6-2 win (Parker 4, Roper 1 and Brown 1)
Some of the goals were outstanding which was nice and see jake get his confidence back .Adam Brown striking a lovely shot into the top right corner of the net after a lovely passing move through the midfield.A great win when we ghad to compete against the referee and some blatant time wasting and feighning injury when we were putting pressure upon their goal.A great team effort, well done.
Seaham 2 V Seaburn 6 (Parker 4, Roper 1 and Brown 1)
SAT 03-04-07
The last games for the under 8's before they get seperated into leagues.
Two excellent games today to round off a very good start from the new team.First up was Durham County who never had a snip of the ball.An excellent team performance with two goals from Jordan and two well deserved ones from Ethan. One of which was a great solo effort from end to end.A mentiion in this game for Gregg who came on as a substitute as a defender and for once got stuck in and made some crucial takles.
The second game against East Durham was another good game for different reasons. We got a bit sloppy at the back and as a team forgot to defend. As a result we went a goal down only after Chris Goss made an excellent save only for the centre forward to react quicker than our players and tap it in.So a gaol down and yet we had all the play and within the closing minutes a lovely one two between Jay and Jordan opened up the defence and a fine pass to ethan who beat his man, drove into the box and fired home a beauty into the roof of the net.1-1
WELL DONE GIRLS AND BOYS
STEVE'S NOTES for the UNDER 9'S FROM SATURDAY THE 3RD MARCH
The Round Robin cup fixtures started today. After a month waiting for the kick off, I have the pen here, so lets go: Any under 9's parents please read this to your son if you read it before them, and if they don't get to see it, please relay it to them.
A display of whole hearted commitment from most of the players. We have lads in the team that are so keen to improve, and it is a pleasure to see. I am sure they will benefit from this in the foreseeable future. If you want quality, you have to have players that want to learn, listen and compete, and a certain amount of dedication and stamina for this tough game of football. If you don't have that, forget it and maybe you need to move on. If Paul and me want a friendly on a cold damp January fixture-free weekend, turn up, and show your dedication to the rest of the boys in the team.
Match Report : Efficient hard work but unfortunately spoilt by a parents attitude off the pitch which has deflated my enthusiasm for what Paul and I have put a lot of effort in to, to give children the chance to play football in a safe, well run environment.
The first game was a good, solid effort. 1-0 to the lads. Jack again reaping the rewards from a good move. Mark was outstanding in the game and shows that he can do it when he wants to. Me and his dad want him to do it every week and he drives us mad. I hope he gets to read this paragraph.
In my opinion, Ross was man of the match in the second game which gave me the most pleasure for ages. I really wanted him to give us all good show, and he deserved a full 30 minutes creating the winner for Jack to slot home again. Dom played so well in defence, and best of all was Mitch who was absolutely outstanding all day.
After consideration I have decided to continue to the end of the current cup campaign and not resign hastily which I was in favour of doing today. I am saddened that the Under 9's team has had to be highlighted once again, and when you are 1st or 2nd best out of 64 other teams, this is baffling. So baffling I had to put it in writing so all can read it.
Seaburn 1 (Jack) v City of Durham 0

At last we had a game to report, and it seems the Under 11 lads have done well again. Read on below.
ROB'S UPDATE
A tough game against the top two teams in the league. The game was played on a superb but large pitch at herrington. The game was end to end with the Herrington goal keeper in good form saving well from Jake Parker on numerous occasions. The lads went in at half time 0-0 and were told to concentrate on defending and to keep them at nil and we believed we would get the goals to win.I we had had our shooting boots on we would have cored at least 3 to win the game .However the game ended in a 0-0 draw which was probably a fair result and a great game to watch.Everyone deserves credit for a very good hard fought performance.

Thanks all for the effort so far from the note on the home page at the top about clicking on green notices. Without knowing how many people are visiting and clicking we have raised 20p today. It may sound measly, but by the time June comes along, if we raise 20p per day, then we would raise at least £25 which would go to paying for the website for a whole 6 months at least! I also hear that if you type in the searching bar for something hot like "lung cancer" and click on a note at the top of the page the trawl brings up it raises a lot more money. One thing I do know is that if I start hitting the notes the account is suspended as it has my IP address and details matched up to prevent unruly visitors wasting their sponsors money. Also, I have to be careful about the jargon I am using here but as I don't see you all, its the best way of getting the word about.
NO GAMES THIS WEEKEND DUE TO THE WEATHER. ALL TEAMS WILL BE BACK WITH A BANG SOON.

ROBS NOTES.
Sat 03-02-07 (Under 8's)
Two excellent games and yet again two great performances from the team.First up was Willington blues who we had played recently and yet again we were the better team even though they are above us with 20 points ahead. We went 1 up with a fine goal from a corner kick by Jordan then againe slack defending and not marking which has cost us a lot of points this season allowed them to equalise.A great solo effort fro Ethan from inseide his own half and some will not to give in was a pleasure to see to put us in the lead 2-1.Yet again a lapse in concentration allowed them a second goal to end the game 2-2.We have played them three timesand lost 2 and drawn 1 and yet every time the manager has said we were the better team.
The second game against Durham County Blades who again are above us in the league was again dominated by the lads and olivia.Even though Jordan missed a penalty and Adam missed an open goal (ADAM PUTS THESE IN ALL THE TIME IN THE BACK GARDEN ) we went onto win 1-0 with a goal from Jordan.
Well done and as the first part of the season draws to a close i would like to say how proud we are of everyone and the way you are playing as a team.
Sunday 04-02-07 (Under 11;s)
After a poor turn out at training on friday due to the tiredness of a week in Derwent Hill for the Fulwell lads and a week in Centre parks for liam watt and a weeks skiing for Tom the lads came up against middle of the table Riverside. We made a change for the ill Chris Butler and brought in Chris Duncan for a starting spot at right back with Luke moving to left back. The lads were all over them in terms of football ability yet again panicking into silly mistakes which allow the opposition back into the game. They stuck at it and again came out winners 3-1 with goals from Jake, James and and own goal after pressure from Smithy.Mention has to go to Lukes perfect cushioned header down into the path of the on coming striker. The problem being luke was our left back and headed it across his own goal.At the opposite end it would have resembled a wayen Rooney type skill.Howewver it just caused more pressureo the touch line.Saying that i have to say thanks to luke as he has been playing excellent at right back but again moved across without any hassle and again did a superb job. Thanks

The second game against a top of the division side Waldridge saw the team win one nil through a goal from ETHAN.Eveyone played well with committment, enthusiasm and the will to have a go and not give up.Well done.

Well that's it folks until Feb 24th. The first part of the Under 9's season came to a successful end today after another two wins and another two clean sheets. As it was the last games and nothing at stake due to last weeks achievements we gave Matty a run out of goal, and Jack ably stepped in for him. It was blowing a hooly. The lads battled away and got the better of Elemore in the first game. Sam scoring a great opener, fully created by himself with a driving run, then Mark converted a beauty after some good passing and movement. The second game of the day against City of Durham was played in atrocious conditions, but we managed to sneak one in after good work by Chris saw his shot sneak past their keeper. Well done again lads.

ROB'S NOTES
In blustery conditions the Under 11's came down to earth with a bump against a well organised Lambton Lions side losing 7-1.
This was the heaviest defeat the under 11,s have conceded and hopefully learn from the mistakes. We talked before the game about closing the opposition down when they had the wind in their favour. We didnt do it and went down 5-0 at half time.We got a late consolation goal from Jake Parker in the second half.
The whole performance was dissapointing and listening to parents on the side lines they felt the same way. However this bunch of lads had a bad day at the office which we all do.It is from now that we push on puting in hard work and continue to put pressure on the top of the table.

STEVE'S NOTES
On Paper it was our toughest fixtures to date and at a crucial part of the season. Would we blow it? Not likely! The Under 9's today had Chester - who could still pip us for second spot, and Redby Reds, who were crowned champions a few weeks ago having gone 27 games unbeaten. In my opinion they are the toughest teams to play against. Now this bunch of lads have stood up today and showed the character, determination and ultimate passion for the game. Not one of them were going to be beaten today. To play such aggressive, but controlled, football in such circumstances was fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough for them. Everyone of them deserves a mention. I've said it before and I'll say it again, football is a TEAM game.
Matt Dawson - Brave goalkeeping when required. No chance with the goals. Looking more and more steady. Starting to shout at the defence too. Top Keeper. Very brave.
Ben Mitchell - The skipper covered every blade of grass in defence in both games. Strong quick and determined. Had a superb bursting run right from the back but unlucky with the bounce or else he was through on goal.
Stu "Mr Football" Hogan - He hasn't been with us long but has settled in so well. Superb footballer. Strong, quick. Loves to go on a run, but gets back quickly. Great passer, fantastic headerer of the ball. From the free kick on the right I asked Stu to take it and hit the target as he is left footed. He noticed Chris was unmarked in a better position which showed great thinking, and the deflection fell kindly to him to score the winner against Redby and his first for the club. Forced off with injury but great day for Stuey.
Dom Kirby - Big and powerful. Never stopped. He will sleep well tonight after putting in a full game against Redby. Strong in defence and attack and won his 50-50's.
Chris Bell - Snuffed out the oppositions' better players so much so they were ordinary and went unnoticed. Put in the hard work for the team in the middle. Never stopped.
Mark Wolfe - Back to his best. Tackles, passes, and runs. Forced in to defence for last 10 minutes against Redby and was outstanding.
Jack "Johnny on the spot" McAneny - Tore both teams defences to shreds. Blistering runs, showed good aggression and scored smashing goals again. Forced off injured against Redby but put in top drawer performances.
Ben Usher - Put in a great shift in both games. Kept his head up and tried his best. Important interceptions too. Well done Ushy.
Sam Ainslie - Got walloped in the face - but wanted to carry on. I asked him to do a man marking job on the Redby Reds left sided player and he stuck to the task 100%. Snuffed him right out of the game in the second half. Superb.
Ross Greenwell - Typified the whole teams work today. Played at Centre Forward for large parts and in the last few minutes of the Redby game he raced for a ball he wasn't going to win right down in to the corner, Not only did he use up valuable time, but won the throw in from what looked like a lost cause. Top job Ross!
Well done boys. You have secured second spot and fully deserve another presentation night.
Chester 1 V Seaburn 2 (Jack 2)
Seaburn 2 (Jack, Stu) V Redby Reds 1
Robs Notes:
Two games for the Under 8,s today in wild windy conditions. The first against Farringdon detached who won 2-0.We made them look good and it was again our mistakes or lack of committment that allowed them the two goals. The second goal was a goal mouth scramble that must have lasted 12 kicks at the ball before it went over the goal line.No one took control and cleared the ball or the goalkeeper smothering it.
The second game against SAFC 24/7 showed alot more committment resulting in a 2-0 win.SAFC never looked in the game with chris in goal not having much to do.Two goals by Jordan anderson the first a solo run and the second which found it,s way in from a corner. The wind coming to our assisstance this time.Another 3 points well done.

The Under 11's returned after the winter break with a home game against the league leaders Herrington. The lads played some excellent passing and moving in the first half to go in at half time 1-0 up with a well taken goal from Jake parker. At half time and Herrington playing down the slope with the wind we discussed the need for closing down so they could not shoot from long range over Bens head.It must have gone in one ear and out the other because within 5 minutes they had a shot which looped over Ben for 1-1.The lads sustained some pressure from Herrington which was caused by us giving the ball away to easily. What must have been the only cross of the second half by Smithy ended up with Liam WATT volleying the winner home to earn a well deserved 2-1 win.A mention goes to Dan Watson for an excellent display at the back and when he gets his defending right he will resemble a young John Terry.

ROBS NOTES -
Today two games for the Under 8's after the well deserved winter break. The first against Riverside was a one sided affair. We had all the possession which ended in a one nil win for us.The goal from Ethan who scored our only goal from a penalty.A mention goes to Jay for a very good game out on the right and an excellent team performance with the passing and movement coming back.
The second game was an outstanding game by the team especially Luke Curry who had obviously received a shaun wright phillips skills book for xmas.He tore the opposition Brandon apart with his jinking runs down the left and scored a well deserved goal aswell a second from Jordan to give the team a 2-0 win and six points.A mention again goes to olivia at the back for some strong defending and two good performances from Ethan who was back to his best in midfield.
A special mention goes to two aspects of play which will find there way into a football howlers dvd for xmas this year. After some excellent passing and movement from the team both Jordan AND adam utilising their newly acquired xmas boots flashed the ball passed the post from a full 1 yard.
Riverside 0 v Seaburn 1 (Ethan)

STEVE'S NOTES
The Under 9's got 2007 off to a flyer and moved up in to second spot today with two important wins. After a shaky start against a determined Redby Whites, we managed to go a goal up. A nice finish by Jack after some good build up play. Redby equalised with a well taken goal, before a great cross from Dom found the head of Jack who nodded the ball back beyond the keeper into the left hand corner. It was a good game of football and as always we look forward to playing Redby Whites again next season in the Premier league.
Next up came TEF Castle Rovers. Stuey and Jack's former team. The lads were up for this one and it was no surprise to go a goal up pretty soon in to the game. Chris netting from a fair distance in to the corner of the net. Jack soon netted another and we went in 2-0 up at half time. Jack got his fourth of the day in the second half to complete a well earned 3-0 victory. It was certainly not a low interest game.

A great Christmas party was appreciated by all who could attend on December 16th 2006, and thanks for your effort. We wish all parents, and importantly players, a great festive season and hope we all enjoy the New Year.
Best of luck to all teams in 2007 and beyond !!!
Robs Notes
At home to Houghton boys who went on to win 3-2.We had a few off colour and the very influential liam watt missing and in his sick bed.We went one nil up with some great crossing from the left by James Roper, finished off in style by Smithy. We then went to sleep in defence and lack of concentration and in in affective center of midfield cost us a further goal.We then pulled it back to 22 at half time through a bit of hard work.
The second half due to injuries and players out of postion cost us dear.It was like a calamity of errors.Players kicking thin air, not talking to each other, kick and rush everything we have worked on went out of the window. When we got the ball to floor we played some lovely football but we panicked got bullied off the ball slow to the ball and second best in every department.Jake was ruled offside for an equaliser which everyone knew was the wrong decision but we cant blame one decision for a flat performance. However, when the lads were asked for a response they said awful.I dont think it was awful just a lack of team work and effort.A two week break and we will come back and put pressure on for the title.HAPPY XMAS

Steve's Notes
Well, what a great day. Six points, no goals conceded and yet again masses of determination and effort from the lads on a couple of heavy pitches. The Under 9's once again produced some good football in what were two entertaining matches. First up we defeated City of Durham who we played for the first time, and they look a good side who try to play football in the right way and with good spirit, After they shaded the first five minutes we seemed to find our feet and battled well to go a goal up. Excellent football by Stu down the left who cut it back for Jack to get the opener. A similar second goal and similar good football by Dom, who cut it back for.......wait for it...... Jack to score the second. We ran out worthy 2-0 winners.
Next up came Chester Tigers, who are a very good football team, and we got our first victory against them in an end to end encounter. Tremendous defending by Mitch and Stu kept Matty well covered, but even when they were breached, we were in debt to him as he was solid. Some creative play and a little aggression by Chris in the middle would always give us a chance to snatch a winner, and late in the second half we scored a great goal after their keeper saved the first effort it rebounded to Urmm.....wait for it...... Jack, to pounce for his third of the day. Lets just say it was time to consolidate. I had to remember I was at kids football and compose myself, but to say I was happy is an understatement. Keep it up lads, with games in hand, its in our hands now to keep the pressure on the group chasing second spot after Redby Reds were confirmed as champions last week.

Steve's Notes
Another very satisfying day for the Under 9's. Not one of the lads put a foot wrong today on a bit of a mud bath in our only game today against Whitburn & Cleadon. We really are hitting form now and Matty in goal could have brought a paper and had a cuppa during the match as he only touched the ball once or twice. It was really that one sided. We had at least six good chances and a couple of half chances but somehow went off 0-0 at half time. Patience prevailed and Jack notched another brace to make the final score 2-0. Now he finishes well does young Jack - make no mistake about that - but he must be delighted with the service he gets. Dom was outstanding. I asked him to give us hard work for 15 minutes and he came off red faced at half time. What a great effort. Stuey has fitted in so well too. He is a cool footballing defender and again impressed me with his work ethic for the team. I single these two out as they were the two to get substituted today but both are a credit to the team and Sam and Ross who came on were up for it from the off. Well done to each and every one of you.
We have some big games against the top teams coming up and it's no good having games in hand if we don't win them. Lets kick on from here.

Rob's Notes
The first of three games for the under 8,s was against the league leaders Farringdon Detached. In a one sided afair which we were much the better team through hard work, team work and committment we gace a sloppy goal away through a bad mistake and went one nil down. With great effort we pulled a goal back through Jordan Anderson who made up for his earlier mistake. Then just when we thought a draw was inevitable againe a sloppy piece of play allowed them to win 2- 1.It was through our own mistakes which allowed a good performance slip to a defeat.
The second game against Fulwell continued the same way to allow us to win 4- 0 with goals from Greg Spruce who played the best game we have seen from him recently (2) and two from Jordan Anderson with a solo effort from his own goal to the other end.
The third was again dominated by the team with excellent finishing from Jay Smyth to allow us to win 2- 0 against Riverside.

Two games today for the Under 9's, and another four points picked up. The first game we hit the post before any Willington players had touched the ball in a great flowing move. We went two up before five minutes were on the clock and literally battered the opposition. It could have really been a cricket score but any team is happy with a 5-0 victory. A special mention to must go to everyone for contributing toward Jack's five goals. In the second game we happened to come across Deerness Valley Lightening, who are fast becoming our bogey team. In a tough, well fought battle we couldn't find the net again against them, but credit to Matty who pulled off two outstanding saves. Stu fitted in very nicely in his first run out for Seaburn, and all in all, it was a good mornings work-out.

Robs notes20-11-06 No games for the under 11,s today as the club had the job of bag packing at Morrisons in Seaburn in order to raise funds for the club. All age groups were asked to take part and all offered some form of assistance resulting in £1,084 pounds being raised which will be divided up between each team accordingly. We would like to thank all the lads who helped and especially the parents who gave up the time to assist.
Remember the xmas party is on Dec 16th from 3pm until 7pm.Please see your team coaches for tickets as a good respone is required for the club to move forward. It is an opportunity to celebrate xmas with all the age groups and remember its for the kids who are the club and play for the club.
25-11-06 No games for the under 8,s due to the weather.
26-11-06 The under 11,s played Bowburn youth at home. With players unavailable it was a chance to try different players, positions and formations. In the first half we did not use the width of the pitch and got a bit tangled up in the middle but still went in 2-0 up at half time withe goals from Liam watt with a left foot long range shot from outside the box and another well taken goal from Adam Brown. The second half was a series of defensive mishaps and a team of individuals.Jake Parker rounded the keeper for a well taken goal before Bowburn got a break away goal because of poor defending.
Allthough the performance was not the best this season the lads many of which had a start for the first time and played well i.e Liam Williamson at right back,Kieran Spruce at centre back and Tom Rutley in goal.Aswell as other players playing out of position,it was another win which keeps the team at the top of the league.WELL DONE LADS.
Today the Under 9's took maximum points in blustery conditions. First of all we played second top Plains Farm Blues and they were never in it. Matty only having one save to make in the whole match. We ran out convincing winnners 3-0 with left footed goals from Chris and Jack, then Sam scored his first league goal of the season with some good anticipation at the back post. A mention must go to the subs (Dom and Sam) who came on and performed well from the off. In the second game we played The Riverside and ran out 2-1 winners after going a goal behind, despite an excellent piece of work from Matty in goal to save the shot he was unlucky to see the ball balloon in to the back of the net. In not so windy conditions luck may have been on his side. Anyway the lads plugged away and after some very neat football for both of Jacks goals in this one we finished 2-1 winners. Well played boys, we will inch our way back up the table with gritty performances like this.
Big thanks also to Gowland & Dawson and in particular Michael "Roman Abramovich" Dawson for providing the superb new winter wear today.

Under 12s Page Update with news and results.
12th Nov 2006
No games this weekend for the Under 9's but we have some magnificent news. Chris Bell had been moved up from the Sunderland Academy Development Centre to train with the actual academy squad for the last 6 weeks. He has now been rewarded for his hard work, effort and most of all talent with a 3 year contract with the Sunderland Academy team. He played his first game for them today (Sunday) in a 2-2 draw with Huddersfield and slotted in very comfortably. Well done Chris, it a great achievement for you and the club.
Under 8's - In atrocious conditions the under 8,s played Willington who are near the topof the table and gained a 1-1 draw.It should have been a well deserved win for Seaburn having played all of the football and created most of the chances only to concede a goal from a free kick. However a well taken goal from Jordan Anderson saw us share the points. After being held up with games overunning due to the conditions it was decided to call a halt to the final matches. These games will be replayed at a future date.A mention must go to Olivia for her outstanding defending and tackling.
A mention for the players who never moaned once about the conditions and aslo a thanks to the parents who stood out in such awful conditions.
Under 11's- An away game against Waldridge was going to prove a stern test for the team.We completely outplayed them in the first half and should have been 3 goals up.Jake parker missing 3 oportuniites which he normally puts away with ease.He had the big lads at the back terrified by his pace but some good goalkeeping by the Waldridge keeper kept them in the game.0-0 at half time was not a fair reflection of the game.
The second half started well but some sloppy defending again allowed Waldridge to sneak two silly goals. We must stop this type of panic defending when we are on top of the oposition. However two excellent goals from Liam watt and Jake Parker earned the team a well deserved draw against the team who will be at the top come the end of the season. It was a fabulous effort and excellent hard work from everyone.
Amention must go to to Liam Williamson.Whilst being a substitute and should now know to be near the coaches and warming up he decided to climb the nearby trees and very nearly did not take any part in the game. However when he decided that he was not a monkey and WAS in fact part of the team he went on and performed excellently in midfield.
Today's Under 11's game was played in cold, windy, winter conditions which made the sort of game we like to play a little more difficult. We started the first half playing downhill with the wind a took the lead with goals from Liam Smith 2, Adam Brown 1 and Jake Parker 1.The second half playing against the wind and uphill was always going to be harder but the lads stuck in and although they conceded a sloppy goal with some weak defending we ran out winners 4-1 to keep the momentum going. The defending in the second half was a bit sloppy with not much talking and players not being committed to get to the ball. The center of midfield was also a cause for concern at times with big gaps appearing. Plenty to work on but another victory. Well done lads.

The Under 8's The first game today was against a well organised Redby team. It has got to be the worst performance this season with basic mistakes such as not marking ,poor kicking from goal kicks, people not sticking to a position and no talking between players. It was 3 - 0 by half time .The second half was a lot better with the team conceding only one goal. A one nil defeat would have been a right result.
The second game against Durham Blades was much better and with a bit more team work we would of and should of won but we lost 1- 0
Redby 4 v Seaburn 0
Seaburn 0 v Durham Blades 1
Well, it was a day of contrasting fortunes once again for the Under 9's. First up was Durham County who must have thought they had come up against Brazil. We were class. Passing and moving all over the place with what was our best performance of the season. It could have been more but we settled for 5-0. Chris and Jack getting a couple each and Ben Usher getting a birthday goal. Well done lads superb. In the next game we shot ourselves in the foot by simply not marking from the kick -off. An easy ball in behind our right hand side where our defenders were sleeping and we were unable to turn the game around after they went 2 up. A bit more composure in front of goal and we could have won the game comfortably. Hilda Park ran out 2-1 winners with Chris getting our goal. A mention to Mitch who moved from defence to right wing and made a big impact. Also to Jack, keep your head up mate, the Hilda Park game was just one of those things! Good thing is you are getting in the right positions to score. Unlucky lads.

The under 11's played away yet again against Tyneside Juniors. This was a pleasing performance for me (Rob) and Derek because of the way the lads battled and played as a team. A mention has to go Liam watt for filling in at centre half for Daniel Watson who is on Holiday. Keiran Spruce who played a half at centre half having returned from his holidays and did exactly what we asked him to do aswell as Chris Duncan who came on at left back and again did what we asked of him in defence with some nice sharp passing and James Roper for some quality crossing from the left hand side. The whole team deserves the praise for a great start to the 11 a side league and for there freindship and attitude. Well done lads some excellny passing and moving in the second half. keep it going.

No Under 8's fixtures / report due to Shiney Row being waterlogged
The Under 9's had two games today and picked up 3 points. A dissapointing 2-0 reverse against Deerness Valley Lightening in the first game. We could have been 3 up before we decided to gift them an opener. They still hadn't a single shot but went 1-0 up with another own goal , lets move on.... We equalised, sorry no we didnt! The ref gave a goal for the equaliser then over ruled himself after a parent behind the Deerness goal (probably the keepers dad) said it wasnt in! Deerness duly went down the other end and scored with their first shot of the game to win 2-0. What a farce.
The second game was also on pitch 3, with the same ref. We were coasting 2-0 after a couple from Jack, then the ref inexplicably gave East Durham a penalty. The twice taken penalty (why I dont know!) gave East Durham a sniff, but we continued to battle and Chris scored a well taken third. Jack almost scored a beauty from an over head scissors kick. A mention for Ushy who created a couple of the goals and Mitch who was superb in defence once again. I would like to comment on the ref, but we all have bad days, if we had lost it would sound like sour grapes, but fortunately we were worthy winners.

The Under 11's played away at the Riverside in Chester le Street. We won 5-2 with Jake Parker scoring 3 and Luke Cassidy scoring 2. Again it was a good hard earned team performance with Luke Cassidy outstanding as he played left back, right back and right midfield. Well done lads

Today the Under 8's really showed effort and team spirit. The first game they won 2-0 against Durham County with Jordan Anderson getting the first having returned from holiday and Ethan scoring the second from a great free kick.
In the second game they won 3-0 against Fulwell Juniors with Jordan again scoring all. It could have been a lot more had it not been for a great effort by the Fulwell keeper and a bit more control in front of the goal by our players.
A great effort well done lads and olivia.

Under 11’s - Another fine win away from home 3-1 against Lambton Lions. Jake with 2 and Adam with the 3rd.We should have won about 12 - 0 but lack of knowledge regarding the off side rule and shots missing the target, hitting the keeper or hitting the bar saved Lambton from a heavy defeat. The lads did not utilise the width of the pitch and did not pass it about as we should but in the end it was another win with every player in the squad getting a game and most players trying out different positions within the team. Mention must go to Daniel Watson for a fine performance at centre half.
Well done lads

In a hard fought game at home to the top of the league team, Newbottle, Seaburn Juniors Under 11’s ran out 2-1 winners. Jake Parker scoring two instinctive strikes. The first half was a tale of lazy, timid uninterested individuals. However, after going in at half time 0-0 and some excellent goalkeeping by Ben Pitcairn, the team got a talking to which was justified due to the first half performance.
The second half started brightly with more commitment and desire from almost everyone resulting in the team going two up. Some panic defending at the end could of let Newbotttle back in but we clung on to earn a hard fought and deserved victory.
Special mention must go to Ben for his first half display of goalkeeping Luke for his defending in the second half and for Liam Watt who fought hard in the middle of midfield.
What summed the game up for me and the attitude which is coming through from the team is this. One lad never got on because of the nature of the game which was tight and important for the development of the squad. However, this young lad didn’t moan he just said to his dad that although he did not get on, at least the team won. This attitude is exactly why the club was formed to develop young people into nice, sporting, respectful individuals. I know and hope this attitude which we are trying to achieve continues as we can be proud of them not only as a team but as an individual who is being brought up with the right attitude to succeed.
Well done lads.

The Under 8's had only one game today and defeated Brandon 1- 0 with Ethan being the scorer. The lads and Olivia played really well today and got stuck in to get back to winning ways. Adam deserves a mention for his determination against the bigger oponents and so do Olivia and Ryan for good defensive work. The Under 9's were superb again in the first game. The passing and movement was once again great to watch and in very windy conditions carried out the instructions to keep the ball on the ground... and pass! They were rewarded with a 4-0 victory over Willington, who had only conceded 4 goals all season before today's game. Chris got 2, Jack 1, and Jon was on hand to slot home number 4. In the other game a well deserved and battling draw against TEF Castle Rovers kept us on target for getting back in to the top 3 of the table. Jack scored a beauty against his old team, and we came close to another victory when we had a couple of great chances near the end of the match, but 1-1 was a fair result. Good work lads.

In the Under 8's first game against the league leaders Willington we got beat 4-0. It was the worst game the under 8's have played which lacked enthusiasm and effort. The second game against Waldridge ended in a 1-1 draw which we should have won. The team played with more committment and passion and proved to everyone that they have the ability to do well if they listen and concentrate. New singing Jordan Anderson got the goal.

The Under 9’s were absolutely superb today. Every single one of them put 100% effort in to their game and got their rewards. A real team effort. Ushy was different class, and we used the role on/off sub to our advantage. In the first game we soundly beat Redby Whites 5-1 and it could have been more, Chris getting a hat-trick and Jack got a couple more. In the second game of the day we comprehensively beat The Riverside 3-0. Wolfie’s passing was a joy to watch, but Jacks finishing was superb and he deserved his hat-trick. Ben Mitchell has taken to captaining the team like a duck to water, and has shown what a leader he is. He was tremendous at the back and swept up all that came his way. Top performance lads, no looking back now.

The Under 9's climbed the table but conceded a terrible 9 goals today. In a thrilling end-to-end game we beat Plains Farm Blues 6-4. Some tremendous passing and great goals but the defence was very leaky once again. Jack scored a hat-trick and Mark claimed another goal, but Chris was outstanding once again and scored 2 beauties. We wont dwell on the second game too much after getting thumped 5-0 by league leaders Redby Reds who will go on to win the league at a canter on current form. Harry-carry defending cost us badly after conceding 5 goals in the second half.

Today the Under 9's huffed and puffed for two draws. A mention must go to Ross who did everything asked of him in both games, and headed everything in site. We played a three / three formation, simply not to get beaten in the first game against Elemore as Jack is on holiday, then tried our luck with a two / three / one formation against Hilda Park. Mark scoring a well taken opener.

The Under 9's got off to a very dissapointing start to the new season. A lack of effort from too many players once again. If the boys dont start matching other teams commitment, then it will be a tough season. Too many are being out-battled as the teams step it up against us. A 2-2 draw with Durham County followed by a 2-0 loss to East Durham was the outcome.

UNDER 9's CAPTAIN.
Having used a rotational captain policy we have decided to appoint a full time captain. After consultation we are delighted that will be captain of the team. Ben is a hard working intelligent lad who always gives 100% in every game, right up until the final whistle. The appointment is for a number of reasons, but mostly to reward Ben for his hard work. The rest of the team should look up to Ben and match his work rate, commitment and effort. If they come somewhere close then we will have a successful season.

The final friendly for the Under 9's before the season starts was a very tough encounter against a full strength and determined Redby Whites. After a goalless first half, the boys eventually sniffed out an opener when Chris wrong footed their keeper to slot a left footer in to the corner. Jack was inevitably on target yet again as the boys won 2-0. All the squad was used and Redby won the second game 1-0 with a comedy goal. We will learn not to watch the ball on the line after the intial effort hit the bar and bobbled around the box for a while. We created little in front of goal, but credit to Redby who worked their sock off all night. Good Luck to Redby Whites for the new season.

The Under 9's competed for the second year running in a triangular tournament at Portland School. Fulwell (hosts) and Redby Whites were the opposition. After a few harsh words due to the poor previous displays it was heartening to see the performance of the lads who were back to almost their best. We played Redby first and were superb. Jack bagged 4 and Dom scored a blinder from all of 25yds. The passing and movement was great. Wolfie was back on his game, Ross and Mitch were in control in defence and Matty had very little to do in dreadful rainy conditions. Chris's sweeping runs from midfield produced most of Jacks chances and Jonathon kept going right until the end. As the conditions worsened, instead of having subs getting cold and wet, we made it 9-a-side against Fulwell. "Johnny on the spot" got another 2 to take his tally to 6 for the day. Althought Fulwell did work Matty it ended up 7 goals for 0 against and the lads deservedly won the tournament. Redby and Fulwell played a 0-0 draw in the opening game.

The Under 9's were invited along to play Silksworth and it proved to be a very tough work out for the lads. Some of our boys must start to battle or we are going to get walked all over in the new season. The selection of the team has been very fair but the commitment of one or two is letting the others down. Silksworth deserved their victory in the first match despite a cracking consolation goal by Ben Usher. The second game was an improvement where we started to pass the ball...... even on a tight pitch you can do it lads!!. Jack popped up with a couple as usual and Chris scored a snorter, even the ref clapped! More of the second game than the first please! 100% from Mitch as usual and Matts kicks are coming on great. Good luck to Silksworth for the new season.

21st August 2006:
On Sunday 20th August, it felt a little strange to be back in action at Shiney Row once again in the RFYL tournament. The Under 9s being involved in a strongly weighted group A which would surely, and did, provide the eventual tournament winners. A decent start against Whitburn & Cleadon was insufficient. A well deserved and strengthend Redby Reds went on to lift the cup. Dom was a big miss in our final match due to an ankle knock. Any sort of win would have seen us through to the semis. This was the biggest ever loss for the team. but they did well to come back from 3-0 down at half time to get back to 3-2 before fatigue of 90 minutes of football gave way and Chester came out worthy winners.

The Under 9's have had an unbeaten start to pre-season playing some superb football, even with no subs due to holidays!
Against Fulwell the 9's only had 5 players so borrowed a few of their lads to make it 8 a-side. A few other games were played(mixed teams) and the "goals for" column is rising rapidly after the main game with all our lads together ended with a win.
